Success

Feeling like a failure
Struggling to keep up
You know that you can do it
But yet you feel that you can't

Chin up!
You know better
To succeed you have to fail
No body that's succeeded
Hasn't failed at least a few dozen times

Keep that in mind
And keep on trying
As long as you keep to it
You will succeed and succeed again.

The Tiger

Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp?

Note: This poem is the opening for Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' In the Forests of the Night. It caught my eye, the tiger being Marshfield School Districts' mascot and all.

Go For It

You see everything
That you could be
You see everything
That you don't really
Want to be
But when life isn't easy
You begin to realize
That sometimes
You need to have
A back-up plan
For your life
You want to be an artist
You want to be a writer
But what will an art degree
Get you job-wise?
You really can't see it
You're going to have to pick
Something to mix it in with:
There's teaching and daycare
And different forms of medical help
But getting your doctorate
Is far from your mind
You really can't afford
The money it takes
For continous school for teaching
Daycare seems to be the best offer
But you also know that
There is a choice of jewelry stores
All around the world
You can make jewelry and decorative metals
The choices begin to expand
You can be a jeweler
You can be anything you want to be
All you have to do
Is go for it!

Rejected?

You don't know them
They don't know you
You want to meet them
Get to know them
But are unsure
Of what to do
You feel that they
Will reject you
But feel obligated
To try
Don't feel so
They don't know
What they missed out on
Yes you'll feel upset
But they get to lose
The only thing
That will come of this
Won't be heart-break
It will be clarity
There's nothing wrong with you
You're great the way you are
Don't let them get you down
They just don't know
How to handle
Affection
Don't know how to give it
So try and fail if it comes to it
But don't become down
You win
They lose.

Betrayed

You thought you loved him
What you didn't know
Every one else saw
You should have listened
When they told you
He's no good
You should have stuck
With friends and family
You should have stuck
To your guns
But his good looks
The sweet promises
He'll take care of you
He'll make the pain go away

You turn around
There was someone else
There in his life
He cheated on you
He lied to you
All those promises
Of happiness
Crumbled to dust
He keeps up the pretense
But now you know
Your heart's skin
Is diamond hard
Against him
Your wall is up
You shut him out

Finally, your eyes are open
You see him for what he is
You see the betrayer
That is his true self
Your heart is learning
The difference between
Love and Lust
It's time to grow up
Stop depending upon others
You don't need a man
To live
Be Independent
Be what you were ment to be
Yourself
Don't ruin your life
For someone who'll turn you out
On your ass.

Happy Birthday?!

This day is the day
You age one year
It's your day
To shine
Live life to its fullest
You'll never know
When it's too late to do so
When someone walks up to you
And gives you a big "Happy Birthday"
Enjoy it.
It just means
That they know you exist
Don't feel confused about it
Just smile and say
"Thanks!"
