I Am

I am a believer in family and friends
I wonder what life would be like without them
then decide I don't want to know
I hear the sobs of those who live without
I see the tears fall fast and heavy
I want to comfort them

I pretend to live in a world without war
I feel the peace that everyone desires
I touch the sun and live in light
I worry that our world will die
I cry for the loss of loved ones
I am a believer in family and friends

I understand the grief of loss
I say we'll see them again someday
I dream about the day that fighting'll end
I try to relieve the anger and sadness of others
I hope one day for international peace
I am a believer in family and friedns.

Note: This started as an english assignment that turned into something to be thought about by everyone.

Warm & Green

The Sun is shinning
The Sky is blue
The Clouds are rare and white
Yet the Wind is cold
And the Trees are still bare

Why this torment,
This promise of Spring?
It's supposed to be warm
But it just isn't happening.

Yet I know
This torment will end
Spring will come
Summer will follow
Warmth and Green will reign.

Note: I had written this a while back when it was still very cold out.

Dellian Lament

While I was looking the other way your fire went out
Left me with cinders to kick into dust
What a waste of the wonder you were

In my living fire I will keep your scorn and mine
In my living fire I will keep your heartache and mine
At the disgrace of a waste of life.

Friends

Forever loyal
Random all the time
Intense love
Endless laughter
Never ending
Disaster? I think not!
Simple yet complex

Summer

Shinning brightly is the sun
Unlimited fun for everyone
Merrily singing
Many joyful expressions
Energy running high in anticipation
Running free

Peace of Mind

The lovely summer sky
Brings a thought of blue seas
And my mind, to peace it goes.

Fields of color
Rainbows, doth flowers fall
And happyness and prosperity spreads.

Running Out of Time

You can't wait for the Big Day
There are so many preparations
But it seems to you
That there just isn't enough time

You're running out of time
You can't stand the lack of it
But there's nothing you can do
Just work with what you've got

Time is racing by, speeding on past you
So soon, too soon, it'll be time
Life is like a speeding bullet
It just doesn't know when to slow down

You're running out of time
It'll be too late
And before you know what hit you
The time will be upon you

When you're really excited
Time slows down
When you're just not ready
Time speeds up

You're running out of time
And finding it hard to catch your breath
As you run to catch up
You're running out of time

The Elfin Knight (Scarborough Fair)

Are you going to Scarbourgh Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She must be a true love of mine

Tell her she'll sleep in a goose feather bed
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Tell her I swear she'll have nothing to dread
She must be a true love of mine

Tell her tomorrow her answer make known
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
What e're she may say I'll not leave her alone
She must be a true love of mine

Her answer in came in a week and a day
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
I'm sorry, good sir, I must answer thee nay
I'll not be a true love of thine

From the sting of my curse she can never be free
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Unless she unravels my riddlings three
She will be a true love of mine

Tell her to make me a magical shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Without and seam or needlework
Else she'll be a true love of mine

Tell her to find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between the salt water and the sea strand
Else she'll be a true love of mine

Tell her to plow it with just a goat's horn
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
And sow it all over with one grain of corn
Else she'll be a true love of mine
And her daughters forever possessions of mine

"Miranda's Version"
Note: Copied down from Nancy Werlin's "Impossible" and probably
the actual song

Scarborough Fair, or, The Lover's Promise

(Her)
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
Always he'll be a true love of mine

Tell him I've made him a magical shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Without any seam or needlework
Always he'll be a true love of mine

(Him)
Tell her she's found me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between the salt water and sea strand
That makes her a true love of mine

Tell her she's plowed it with just a goat's horn
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
She's sown in all over with one grain of corn
Yes, she is a true love of mine
And her daughter forever a daughter of mine

(Together)
Are you going to Scarbourgh Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember us to all who live there
Ours will be a true love for all tiime

Truth Covers Us All

A sweaty-toothed madman
With a stare that pounds my brain
His hands reach out and choke me
And all the time he's mumbling
Mumbling truth
Truth like a blanket that always
Leaves you feet cold
You push it, stretch it,
It'll never be enough
You kick it, beat it,
It'll never cover any of us
From the moment we enter crying
To the moment we leave dying
It'll just cover your face
As you wail and scream

-"Todd Anderson"
"Dead Poets Society"

Note: I felt a particular "draw" to this poem, I don't know how to explain it, and as it didn't seem to have a title I plucked this one out of the air and, to me, it seems to kinda fit. I found, or more correctly, heard this poem while watching Dead Poets Society during my Creative Writing class a couple of months ago.

Sleep

It's cloudy outside
It's long hours
Life's getting boring
And paying attention
Is getting hard
Sleeping sound good
But temptation must be resisted

Late nights
Early mornings
Always a bad mix
Dull weather
Doesn't help
Headaches galore
I just want to sleep

Note: This is just one of a few variations of my "Sleep" poems

Can and Will

They seem not to have faith
It seems that they don't trust you
Oh! if only they'd believe
You know you can do it
But how to make them see
It seems to you
The only way it to do

You know you can
You know you will
All you have to do
Is have faith in yourself

It's not about them
It's about you
Don't let the others
Get you down
You have to make them believe
You have to show them

So stop bitching
That nobody trusts you
Get out there and prove
To the world
That you can and you will.
